This object was made on planet Earth.
It is rare, pressed in only 300 copies. It is unique because, for the first time, sound enthusiasts participated in a collaborative experience by producing music live every week via my social media channels.
Last September, I decided to meet with everyone who wanted to join me every Thursday at 9 PM to compose techno-sounding tracks. I was fortunate to witness the rise of this musical genre in France in the early 1990s. At that time, I was a DJ at a Parisian club called Le Boy and at Maxximum, the first French radio station broadcasting exclusively dance music.
Through this double album, I wanted to revive some iconic sounds from the period 1988-1995.
I proposed to pool together all the ideas from the Space Invaders of production, sort them, give advice, and share my producer experience with everyone. And the magic happened. Over 1200 people signed up on a Discord server, resulting in 2619 submissions of rhythms, basslines, instrumental gimmicks, original vocals, samples, sound design… for nearly 1 terabyte of sound.
I thank the hundreds of participants and especially the co-composers whose elements I selected to be part of the 16 tracks on this double vinyl.
