Tell me how you guys in the Swedish House Mafia know David Guetta?
- He’s a really good friend who we have known for lots of years. We’ve been playing at the Fuck Me I’m Famous parties several times the last two years and we’re gonna continue this summer. We also produced and wrote the second and third single on his last album. But we’re not only working together, he’s a really close friend. We often talk on the phone and hang out whenever we get the chance.
How do you think it’s gonna be on Thursday?
- Absolutely amazing. The party of the year! It’s good for the Swedish house scene to see big international DJs mixed with Swedish ones. We’re gonna do everything to get the best out of Café Opera. Basically it’s gonna be a banging party!
What are your longterm plans for La Mode?
- We’re gonna keep bringing big foreign DJs. We have, for example, booked Erick Morillo after the summer. We’re building a stable longterm concept for the Swedish scene which keeps on going. Not a “one off event” but a recurring one so that people have something to look forward to. The goal is to create something new, something that never really have existed in Sweden.
Jens Segrén said ”It’s the first time Guetta plays and is a part of something that the SHM is hosting so he is aware that he has to perform well.” Exactly how did you present it to Guetta?
- Actually we’ve never played with him as the complete SHM and it’s the first time we’re inviting him to something we’re doing. Usually his set consists of 80% of our tunes so now he has to come up with some trick to top the show, or otherwise he’s in deep shit. But we don’t need to tell him that. He knows that he has to perform at his best. His intro tune is “Be”, which I made, and as I said his set mainly consist of our tracks. Now he has to gear up so that the Swedish crowd really gets what he’s made of. He has to change almost all material and perform a completely new and unique set since we’re gonna play our tunes ourselves and he’s on last...
You make it sound like he’s always playing the same set?
- If you are as big as he is, and get paid as much, you often have a set that you change a little bit depending on the amount of time you play. He has to know that it’s a flawless set that people like. You can’t experiment when you’re at his level. This is gonna be so much fun. He’s really looking forward to this and we have been planning this for almost a year so everything is gonna work out perfectly.
Do the SHM have any more gigs in Sweden this summer?
- We don’t have anything planned except for our La Mode parties.
SHM is huge all over the world right now. What do you do to keep both feet on earth and not get hubristic?
- Return to Sweden from time to time. Nice country where you can do whatever you want without anybody caring. Abroad people know who we are and what we look like. When we have gigs outside of Sweden we get taken care of and served well... But at the same time it’s sad that people in Sweden have a hard time showing delight and appreciation. When you’re on your way up, you’re loved by everyone and you get full support. But once you reach the top the ”Jantelag” (basically that no one should stand out) kicks in. Instead of people giving you a tap on the shoulder and congratulating you, they get jealous and start talking shit behind your back. It’s a shame it has to be this way.
Do you have any monsterhits coming up?
- Absolutely, we have a ridiculous number of tunes coming up. We have been working our asses off in the studio with productions, remixes, compilations and the record labels. Seb and I have made a new album called “Buy Now” which includes a bunch of, according to us, banging tunes. At least they work perfect in our sets. Production wise this is gonna be a really strong summer!
How does the rest of the year look for you?
- Between 10 and 15 gigs per month and many big festivals. And Ibiza is just around the corner. We have taken over the fridays at Pacha after Pete Tong and we’re also gonna play with Carl Cox at Space two Sundays. We have a few bookings at Cream, Amnesia as well. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. This summer is gonna be fantastic!
Anything else you would like to add?
- Yes, come on Thursday! Be in a good mood and put on your sneakers, because, damn, are we gonna dance!
Petite interview mais je trouve vraiment dommage quand il dit qu'il ne peut pas improviser pour un set....je comprend pas bien même
