just nothing to do here... waiting my new midi keyb. to arrive...

"cheers" is approximately like "thanks", i think
I french we have just one word : "merci".

yep, french has not as much language nuances as english or german... :? I think Carlito is right, the nearest word to translate cheers is "merci",

and if you can't wait until this week end you can already download the video clip of Joachim's latest single "space invaders are back" :)

Well actually, "cheers" as you would use it before drinking a glass of [some alcoholic beverage] is "à la votre" or "santé!".

But there's just no equivalent in French for the "cheers" you say when you mean "bye bye take care". It's not "merci" either.

I though that you can say "cheers" when, for example, someboby opens you the door.

well one meaning is also sort-of-a unofficial/not so formal 'thanks'+hooray...
